Heather Turnpaugh recently stayed at the Four Seasons Bora Bora with her family, this is how her experience went:
Recently, my family and I embarked on a journey to Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora. The flight was lengthy, taking 24 hours from Pennsylvania, but our overnight travel from Los Angeles to Papeete was smooth.
We chose to return to the Four Seasons and it’s overwater bungalows because of the high recommendations we had received from others, and it exceeded our expectations yet again!
Upon arriving at the Bora Bora airport, the valets quickly loaded our belongings onto a Four Seasons boat. We were given cool washcloths, flower leis, and refreshing water, making us feel welcome and comfortable.
The boat ride to the resort took less than ten minutes and our first glimpse of the Four Seasons Bora Bora bungalows was enchanting. The water was clear and blue, and the Polynesian drummers who greeted us made the experience even more magical. The mountain in the background was indescribable and added to the breathtaking scenery.
Our overwater bungalow on this trip was spacious and elegantly furnished. The daily supply of robes, water, and coffee made us feel pampered, and the service twice daily to freshen the rooms was prompt and efficient.
We were delighted to find champagne, desserts, and a thoughtful “Happy Birthday” message on our bed upon arrival.
To simplify our dining experience, we pre-paid for three meals per day. While the Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora had a limited number of restaurants, we found each one to be delicious and worth trying.
Our favorite meal was breakfast, where we sampled a variety of fruits, pastries, fresh omelets, juices, and cappuccinos while taking in the stunning scenery.
Bora Bora was a peaceful and relaxing vacation destination. We spent each day stand-up paddleboarding, lounging by the pool in our cabana or visiting the main pool, and snorkeling in the resort’s large lagoon.
The cabanas were spacious and served as the perfect sanctuary from the sun. The beaches were flawless, and we could wade out a hundred meters before the water reached our waists.
There is an on-site marine biologist who takes guests on a daily snorkel trip around the lagoon, pointing out the coral and exotic fish. This is a must-do. We also played tennis, ping-pong, and volleyball, all activities that they have at the Four Seasons Bora Bora.
One morning we did yoga, which was amazing. The instructor spoke both French and English, overlooking the water. It was like something out of a dream.
During the day, the pool is a fun place to be at. Everyone is friendly and socializes, and the bartenders routinely deliver drinks poolside or lunch to the cabanas.
In the background, you can hear music and see the turquoise water sparkling in the background. There are more variations of turquoise than you can ever imagine.
We also embarked on two exciting excursions while in Bora Bora. The first was with a private company called Lagoon Services, where we visited three different snorkeling spots, one with stingrays, one with sharks, and one at the coral garden.
Our lunch was an unforgettable experience, as we dined on a picnic table in the water while rays and sharks swam around our feet. The tour guide gave us an extensive lesson on coconuts and every way that they utilize them. It was fascinating.
Later in the week, we participated in a scuba diving trip with the resort, where we had the opportunity to snorkel in and out of the reef. We saw manta rays as large as Volkswagens, making the experience unforgettable.
The Four Seasons Bora Bora was a dreamy vacation filled with memorable moments. Highlights included scuba diving, indulging in the banana split (a delicious concoction of tropical sorbets and banana and passion fruit) and grilled tuna, and drinking coffee on the bungalow while watching fish in the water.
We spent a relaxing, intentional fun time with our daughter, enjoying both active and relaxing moments. At night, we were able to see every single star in the sky.
The Four Seasons Bora Bora was definitely worth it, and we plan to return every few years.
